Echo Zero
Echo Zero is a sci-fi survival action game that blends base-building, exploration, and resource management in a procedurally generated underground world. Players take on the role of Zero, a disposable immortal clone born from a subterranean machine and tasked with preventing a dangerous new species from reaching the surface. As they explore hostile environments, players construct and defend an underground base, gather vital resources, unlock powerful upgrades, and survive relentless enemy waves in an ever-evolving world.
Building on the team's experience across narrative adventures and strategic action games, the project expands into the survival genre with a strong emphasis on atmospheric world-building, emergent gameplay, and long-term progression.
As Wildboy Studios' third commercial title, Echo Zero is the studio's most ambitious project yet.
I designed Echo Zero’s clone characters and developed their animations using Spine, with a flexible skin system that allows different outfits and visual variations to be applied across each clone.
I also brought one of many Echo Zero’s creatures to life through design and 2D animation, creating expressive movement and behaviours that make each creature feel unique within the game’s hostile underground world.
I helped create a UI system that complements its sci-fi world, with clear iconography, animated interactions and transitions that make the interface feel responsive, engaging, and alive.
